BI tools have evolved from purpose-built tools to suites to modern analytic platforms (MAPs)--integrated environments with a comprehensive set of BI services geared to all types of business users and developers and accessible via standard and programmatic interfaces. Modern analytic platforms access all types of data, optimize both performance and scalability, and balance self service and governance requirements.
