Who should attend:

Organizations with teams who are new to developing and publishing reports and dashboards with Power BI. This training will provide a practical hands-on approach to getting your team members working with Power BI within two days.

Each attendee should have access to a laptop or desktop they can utilize for the duration of the training with the current version of Power BI Desktop installed.

Part 1: Getting Data & Prepare Data

Learn how to get data and prepare data in Power BI, including importing data from sources such as Excel workbooks and CSVs, entering your own data, and additionally learn about the Power BI-equivalent of Excel’s pivot tables, text formatting such as rounding and case (proper, uppercase, lowercase), text-to-columns, and simple functions such as left(), mid(), right(), and trim().

Part 2: Modeling Data

Data modeling focuses on ensuring you have the needed measures, hierarchies, relationships, formatting of measures and columns. We’ll create simple calculated columns such as SUM and AVG.

Part 3: DAX

Learn how to perform calculations in Power BI using Power BI’s Excel-like syntax, DAX. We’ll cover topics such as IF statements, AND statements, concatenate, MIN, MAX, and DAYS.

Part 4: Creating Visualizations & Tables

Learn how to create visualizations and data tables in Power BI using standard line charts, area charts, pie charts, bar charts, scatter charts, and waterfall charts. We’ll additionally cover how to add a slicer, or a filter, to your visualizations and data tables.

Part 5: Publishing & Sharing to the Power BI Service

Learn how you can use Power BI to publish and share your dashboards throughout your organization easily.

Duration

This training is a three-day course that will include coffee and lunch breaks. Coffee and a light lunch is included.

Location

Training hosted at your location in a training or conference room to maximize the value of the training. The facility must have a basic setup of projector and screen along with tables and chairs for the attendees. If you do not have a training facility, we will locate a nearby facility to host the training.
