Report Development with a Long-Term View

A human resource department relied heavily on hundreds of reports they had created in their employee source system. However, each time the system was upgraded, all of the reports would break due to changes in database structure and logic. In the lead-up to a scheduled upgrade, the client contacted us to help stop a repeat of this dilemma. We worked with the technical and subject matter experts to rewrite over 100 reports. Not only did we avert the impending crisis, we rewrote the reports to source data from the enterprise data warehouse to ensure future source system updates won’t cause the same problem.
